UPCOMING TRAINING AND SEMINARS
July 18 2020 10 am - 2 pm (CST)
Data Management & Manipulation with SPSS
The focus of this seminar is to provide a hands on experience on manipulating, recoding, and the organization of data in IBM® SPSS® Statistics. As a statistician, who works with big data, half of my job is cleaning and coding the data in a format which allows me to perform analyses. Some of the concepts that will be taught include:
Reading data into SPSS from other formats (CSV, TXT)
Creating new variables - recoding, computing, count, performing calculations on subsets
Defining data - variable names/labels, value labels, missing value, formatting data
Manipulating cases - selecting subsets of data for analysis, filtering and splitting files Manipulating files - aggregating files, restructuring files, matching files, merging files
Learning how to use syntax
It time permits, some light statistical analyses.
Attendees should have a working copy of SPSS (any versions v15 onwards will do) and have access to Zoom. I will provide a dataset one day before the seminar. The length of the seminar will be approximately four hours, with one hour for questions. The cost of the seminar is $47.00 and will be limited to 20 people to ensure that participants have adequate time with the instructor. If you are interested, please fill out the following form.

Factor Analysis: A Glorified Correlation Matrix
Often, graduate students will create a new survey or instrument without applying the proper psychometric techniques to ensure the instrument or survey is valid or will incorrectly analyze secondary data. This virtual seminar will focus on Factor Analysis and Survey Results from an applied perspective. From running a factor analysis, understanding the factor analysis results, and interpreting how the factor analysis scores can answer your research questions. Attendees should have a basic understanding of correlation and regression concepts and have a working copy of IBM® SPSS® Statistics (any versions v15 onwards will do) and have access to Zoom.
I will provide a dataset one day before the seminar, or you are free to use your own. The length of the seminar will be approximately four hours, with one hour for questions. The cost of the seminar is $47.00 and will be limited to 20 people to ensure that participants have adequate time with the instructor. If you are interested, please fill out the following form.
